Kodiak Top-Roll Gymnasium Divider  

SUPPLY & INSTALL:

         Only, Top-Roll Gymnasium Divider Curtain(s); as supplied by Royal Stewart

Curtain shall be top-rolling type, electrically operated without use of cables or straps.

Size of curtain shall be ______ high x ______ wide.

Curtain shall be made of a vinyl on nylon materials NYCO-18, and shall be in accordance with the following specifications:

a)    Weight – 18.0 oz. per sq. yard

b)    Thickness – 0.023 inch

c)    Coating distribution – 50/50

d)    Tongue tear – 50 x 50 lbs.

e)    Adhesion – 20 lbs. per sq. inch

f)     Grab tensile – 450 x 375 lbs. per inch

g)    Mullen burst – 775 lbs. per inch

h)    Hydrostatic – 700 lbs. per inch

i)     Flame resistance – 30 degree angle, 0 seconds

j)     Low temperature – 50 degrees F

k)    Colour – standard colors

Samples of vinyl shall be submitted to architect for approval.

Hoisting of curtain shall be by means of motorized rolling aluminum extrusion top tube without use of cables or straps.

Fold-up or center roll up curtains are not acceptable. Maximum stacking height for curtains up to 30’ shall be 18” or less.

Operation of the curtain shall be by means of a 1HP electric motor drive with 40:1 self locking reducer.  Drive to be equipped with limit and key switches to set the up/down position.

Power and control outlet; including conduit, wire, etc. to be supplied and installed by electrical contractor.

Final electrical hook-up by electrical contractor.

1)     System Description

i)        Kodiak Top-Roll Fold-Up Gymnasium Divider Curtain

(a)    Work in this section is based on product as manufactured by Kodiak Industries, Winnipeg, MB.

2)     Materials – Fabrication

i)        Overhead Suspension

(a)    Provide custom designed heavy-duty curtain cradles to be supported by the building super structure at maximum 20’-0” on centre. Cradles to be made of tube steel and rubberized rollers.

(b)    Where positioning does not permit attachment to the building structure metal fabrications section 05500 shall provide support structure for mounting curtain system

ii)       Drive System

(a)    Overhead drive system shall consist of one continuous 1 ½” diameter drive tube with the electric drive unit located on one end. Drive unit shall be minimum 1HP. Power supply of 120 vac – 20 Amps required. Each unit to be supplied with a flush mounted, spring loaded up/stop/down key switch

v)       Curtain Fabrication

(a)    Curtain shall be heat sealed at all seams, and stitched with double lock stitch using #16 polyester thread at bottom and top hems.

(f)     All curtain seams to be horizontal.

(f)     Use of grommets, cables, or straps is not acceptable.

(f)     Curtain material shall be 18 oz per sq yard material (.61 kg per sq. M) vinyl coated polyester scrim, rated as flame retardant NFPA 701 UL214

(g)    Open mesh material shall be 7 oz. Per sq yard (.238 kg per sq. M) vinyl coated woven polyester fabric construction allowing for through mesh lighting observation, and air circulation, treated to be flame retardant – color to match curtain vinyl color.

PART 3 - EXECUTION
3.01 EXAMINATION

A. Verification of Conditions: Verify area is free of impediments interfering with installation. Do not commence installation until conditions are satisfactory.


3.02 INSTALLATION

A. Manufacturer's Recommendations: Comply with manufacturer's recommendations for product installation requirements.

B. General: Install divider system in accordance with manufacturer's installation instructions and final shop drawings.

3.03 ADJUSTMENT AND CLEANING

A. Adjustment: After installation completion, lubricate, test and adjust the curtain system to operate in compliance with manufacturer's operations manual.

B. Cleaning: Clean exposed surfaces. Touch-up finishes to restore damage or soiled surfaces.
